About Zoe Learning Academy

Mission or Philosophy: The mission of Zoe Learning Academy is to implement a public charter school with parents and community, that offers a multi-cultural friendly environment, in which students can successfully learn basic skills and academic content, and demonstrate their special talents and gifts.

Curriculum Design and Core Teaching Methods: ZLA provides a broad based curriculum approved by the Texas Education Agency. We maintain a range of traditional liberal arts subjects as well as technology based courses focused on the 21st century. Our academic goals and program plan are as follows: To provide quality teaching and learning for all students. To foster a sense of personal pride and belonging that all students are to develop self-esteem, respect for others, tolerance and self-discipline. To encourage a love of learning, a spirit of inquiry and an ethos that encourages high standards and values. To foster scientific, technological, aesthetic and cultural achievement. To provide a full cooperation between home, school and community.

Distinctive Features of the School: Zoe Learning Academy is an open enrollment charter school for at-risk students, with high educational standards and opportunities. The ZLA is a comprehensive school providing an education for children K-6 grades. Residential locality is not a deciding factor in admission. Free transportation is provided for children. Because of parental income for students enrolled, lunch programs are based upon income. ZLA offers smaller classroom settings and a state of the art facility for learning. There is a technology center on-site for students and teachers as well as for classroom teaching and intervention. A free after-school program is offered from 3-5 p.m.
